Post high mileage GT. Buy or don't buy

As some of you may know the trans on my car went out. Well I'm gonna get a new one and found a 1992 GT 5-speed. The paint is nearly perfect with the only blemish being a star in the fiberglass body panels where a rock hit it. The interior is in preaty good shape and the engine dosn't smoke. I'm gonna test drive it tommorow. BUT the car has 170,000 thousand miles. The guy wants 3,000 for it(but I might be able to talk him down). The car books for 4,000 in good condition. Do yall think it would be worth it to buy this car. The engine would have to last for at least 2 to 3 years. It will remain stock and won't be beat on too much. Should I buy this car or just such it up and look for another stang.

1990 Dodge Dynasty with 275,000 miles. Mods:chiped paint, CD player. Sucks but it was free. Praying for a stang.
