Post help w/torque converters

Does anybody have any advice on torque converters? I have a vague idea of how they work, but I'm not quite sure, and I could use any help on what kind of converter to use.

I have a 1994 GT with the following mods: 3:55 gears, BBK equal length headers, bassani X-pipe, flowmaster 3 chambers, underdrive pulleys, K&N air filter, 70mm throttle body. It's the stock transmission with a shift kit.
