Default How much time Can I cut Off with 1 grand?

Hey everyone, This winter I'll be able to finally save up money for my car. (after I buy x-mas gifts that is) and well I figure I'll have at least $1,000...and I was wondering if it's possible to drop a second off my E/T with that? (after I put on my comp T/A's drag radials and my transgo shift kit is in) I don't think I can but I would like to do the best that I can to make this thing accellerate much better. thanx alot in advance.

Long tube headers, Force II catback system, Underdrive pulleys, Mac cold air induction That sounds Like a great way to spend it. I did all that stuff before I thought about the NO2 any how.

Full exhaust is a good next step, possibly some pulleys as well. If you get some money (universal gift certificate) for christmas, how bout an intake!

For $600, a PI Stallion 2800rpm stall converter is likely to give you 3 tenths or better. That's the next step.

The other $400 can be used for other mods like electric fans, G3 alternator upgrade to support the fans, an N20 kit, whatever.

In my opinion gears and a full exhaust system should be the first mods you get. But, with an AOD a stall converter seems to be highly recommended. A stall will eat up quite a bit of that $1000 so with what you have left I'd just save up until you could do a full exhaust system. Don't spend it on piddly chit like a cold air kit just yet.

You could however benefit a little from underdrive pullies, but I'd do the 3G alternator upgrade first which is less than $100 if you go with a rebuilt 3G from Auto Zone. With that you could install an electric fan too. I got my fan from Auto Zone as well and it works great. It was like $65 for the biggest fan they had.

That would leave you a couple hundred. Maybe you could go with some control arms with the rest. People have been known to get stock Mustangs into the 12's with only suspension and gears so it is a thought.

But like I said, I'd go for exhaust. I know of quite a few people (myself included) that were amazed at how much more pep their cars had with exhaust upgrades alone. And long tubes is the way to go if you plan more mods in the future.

A full second off your ET? Possible. Anything you add will be an improvement at this point.

If you don't want to fill a nitrous bottle all the time, I would recommend installing a set of ported 1965 289 cyclinder heads (54.5cc combustion chamber). After seeing an article in a magazine, I installed a set on my car for about $600.00 (including all machine work) and cut .85 from my e.t. Oh yeah install a 155lph fuel pump, your going to need it. I did all the porting myself. Current best e.t. is 12.38 @ 110 MPH!!

stall converter first for sure!!! then work on exhaust up grades. a good converter will set u back about $600 from PI. a mac h pipe will be about $150, and force 2 cat back is $260. so thats a total of $1010. thats what i would do first with a grand.
