![]() Ok, it's been a week since I put on the pulleys, and the new intake and TB. I still have the 1500 rpm shutter, vibration, whatever you want to call it, and today it seems to have gotten worse.
I think maybe I have a vacum leak, but I can't find anything. The intake is an Extrude Honed Cobra upper, and the TB is a BBK 70mm. I have all but exhausted my resources. I am totally stumped. Please help me out on this. Anyway, I'll talk to ya later.

![]() Is the problem constant, or only at 1500rpms? Any performance issues surrounding the problem? Rough idle, poor fuel economy, lack of acceleration? If it's just a vibration at 1500rpms, I'd be suspect of one of the pulleys being loose or somehow having something out of balance.

![]() At low speeds in 4th or 5th, say 1000 rpm or so, it bucks and jerks and raises all kinds of hell. But after it hits the 1500-2000 mark, it calms down and runs as strong as ever, if not stronger.
Last night coming home it seemed worse, but I can't really remember now, so I'm going to go try and drive it some(hopefully she won't poop out on me). In case something does go wrong, I'll just limp her home or something. I'm going to check and make sure that everything is tight and torqued to spec before I venture out. I'll let you know what I find, but like I was saying last night, I have come to the end of my wits. Anyway, thanks for the help guys. I know I can always count on all of you when I need you. Later.

![]() I really don't know if this will help but.. Some people have had problems with the edelbrock/bbk throttle bodies before... I have the same one you have and don't have a problem.. Its been said that drilling a small hole in the tb plate will solve 'the problem' but to tell you the truth.. I can't remember what the problem was.. maybe idle or the problem you are having. I also heard(years ago) the brass screw in the tb breaks off and ends up in the engine. Still, I have no problems with mine.
I tell ya, I just seem to be forgetting so much these days.. so much information though the years and I just seem to be losing some of the knowledge I once had(though I'm learning more). Don't go drilling yet. If I were you I'd try putting the old tb back on(the price of a gasket and 15 minutes) and see if that helps, if it does... the tb may be the problem I really wish I could help more. |

![]() My car did it for the longest time too. I know EXACTLY what your talking about.
I finally got rid of it MOSTLY, but not 100%. I have no idea what caused it. But it happened after the heads/cam/TB Skyler

![]() We're going to switch out the TB's today and see if that helps any. I can't imagine that it's just the TB. IT makes the car seem like the entire drive line is about to fall out from under the car. It's scarey. The entire car shakes violently. That can't be normal.
Anyway, I'll let you know if that helps any. If so, I'm going to send BBK a really nice letter. Thanks again guys. Later. |
