Default AOD guys, help

I'm thinking of buying a AOD for $300, the guy says it's out of a 93 with 50,000 miles and has a shift kit in it. He said theres a detent cable(? he said cable that goes to TB, sounds like throttle pressure cable) something thats broke, i'll find out more about that in a latter. How do I know it's an AOD and not an AODE or even the 4 cyl (A4LD or something)? Can I visably tell? I plan on buying a good manual VB, I don't think they make reverse pattern? I don't know how the OD will work with it, does the "electronic OD delete" mean that I can push a button to turn it on and off? Because it still is a three speed shifter right? Speaking of shifters, which one? I know the hammer fits, but I hear the ratcheting shifters are sloppy and the only gate shifter I seen that will fit is the B&M pro stick (are there any others?). I also don't want to tear up my console, so what is the best fitting shifter?

Pro-stick won't fit in the stock console opening (the lever will hit the radio). I had to cut my console to place the PS where the ashtray was then I made a nice cover to go in the old shifter opening. Electronic O/D delete will be an ON-OFF switch. Cable to the TB is the TV cable and indeed controls downshifts. AODE won't have the TV since downshifts are controlled via the computer and TPS sensor. Go with the Lentech VB if you have the chance.

the AOD is a bigger beefer tranny then the A4LD. the 4cyl A4LD has shift patterns 1, 2, 3, OD, N, R. the AOD goes 1-2, 3, OD, N, R. that will help determine its a AOD. i have the B&M rachet shifter and after getting use to the rachet action i like it better then the stock one. its quicker and is not sloppy. plus the looks are a lot better then that stock one.

You acutally don't have to get a shifter if you don't want one.

The Lentech valve body will with electric OD delete will work with the stock shifter. "1" remains first gear only. "D" becomes second gear only. "OD" becomes third gear only as long as the electric OD delete switch is activated. When you're done racing and are at a suitable highway cruising speed, you flip the switch to engage overdrive in the "OD" position electronically. When you're in town or when your racing, keep the overdrive locked out.

Everything I've heard about the Lentech VB has been great. Shifts and custom tailored to your order and occur crisply without delay.
