Default installing all new gas line

Hi!

I have a 66 289 mustang.

I just recently had to take out my old rusted gas tank!

I now have to replace it as well as the fuel line from the tank - to the carb.

Is there any helpful advice anyone has?

I have heard that it can be a real B**ch!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I can only speak for myself, but I did it on my 68 when I replaced the gas tank and it was a piece of cake. Just removed the few brackets holding the old one in place, laid them down where I removed them, and hooked up the new ones the same way I removed the old ones. If I remember correctly, it only came in 3 pieces. I also replaced all the rubber lines too. One of the few things that has went smoothly for me.

Default gas tank and fuel line replacement

Does anyone know if gaskets are needed when replacing the gas tank and fuel lines?

I want to make sure that I order all parts needed for replacing the gas tank and fuel lines all of the way to the carb.

Thanks!

When I replaced mine I also bought a new fuel gauge sending unit. The only gasket required was the rubber ring that installs between the sending unit and the gas tank. If you're not replacing the sending unit you can buy the rubber gasket seperately for a couple of bucks I think. If you're not replacing the sending unit, it's still a good idea to replace that gasket.

Oh yeah, forgot one other gasket I replaced. The fuel neck gasket between the neck and the car. I used 2 of the gaskets as some of the experts suggested to ensure my gas cap didn't accidently scrape the back panel.

I would also purchase a new set of bolts that holds down the tank and the 3M caulking cord to install around the mounting flange.
