![]() I have a 85 GT with a 91 stock short block it has a E cam edelbrock heads & holley carb. best run is 12.28 at 109.74 on 26-8.5 mt slicks on stock suspension. I pick up a B+M 144 Blower that i'm puting on the car is it worth putting in a F cam. The combo i have work's good. I only considering the F cam because it's free. Thanks

![]() 12.28 with a stock motor, e-cam, heads, and a holley carb. I call BS on that. Unless you have nitrous or something. I would say it's not worth going to the F from the E. There are better blower cams out there if you want to swap cams.

![]() i recommend the f-cam. it gives me a little bit more mid to high end power and has a rough idle that i love.

![]() If you can get the cam for free, then why not? It is a little more blower friendly than the E cam, but there's not too much difference. If you have to pay for it, then go research another cam.
Impressive time with those mods, I know the Edelbrock heads are underrated that's for sure. I'm running 106-108 mph range and can't hook up (never been on slicks tho). I've trapped 115 on a 125 shot tho. |

The E cam has proven itself solidly compatable with blowers. I'd probably just stick with it and not open up an engine that's running good. If you aren't satisfied, you can always swap the cam later. Besides, the block won't take much more power than what you're already going to make. |

![]() The only way you will see a 50-75hp increase from a cam is if you start with a 94cobra cam in a 900hp turbo car then go to a custom ground cam

![]() You can add 250hp if you have a stock 2bbl mid 1970's 350 Chev though. Get a cam so big you have to set the idle at 1500-2000rpms, and of course you need a 1050cfm carb, and a Victor intake. Keep the stock heads, and stock 2.33 gears.
I can hear the bog now. Fffwwwwwooooooooooooouuuuuupppp |

![]() How about 12.3 @ 112 with a stock lower end, E-303 cam, Trick flow heads, and a Holley intake. That's what I run on motor.
His numbers are EXACTLY what a good running 302 should do.

![]() He may have accidentally thought you were the one that posted 2nd on this thread. He's the one that said he calls BS on that.
or then again, maybe he just understood you. I really dont see how he would have from what you said though?

![]() I said BS. I don't care what you say. Heads, and cam don't give you 2 to 3 seconds over stock. And without the heads and cam it would be a stock high 14 second motor. I have basically the same set up and on slicks I go in the mid to high 13s and I am a good driver. I'll keep my posts in the classic forum so I don't see bull **** like this anymore.

![]() just because your car isn't as fast as others doesnt mean that you should sit there and call BS on them.
Are you telling me the guys in the NMRA that run low 11's with BOX stock gt40p heads are BS'ing? what about Rick91GT and the many others that have run high 12's N/A with the stock heads/cam/intake? he very well may be BS'ing but evidence shows that its likely that the car is capable of such times.

![]() Anyways back to the original question.
With a Roots style blower you definitely will want to switch to the F cam, or else you'll be blowing a ton of boost out the exhaust due to the overlap the E cam has. There's a big difference between a 110° LSA and a 114° LSA. Centrifugals get by this moreso because their power is of the high RPM nature and they aren't as cam-affected. |
