Default 92 Taurus...changing fuel pump.

My girlfriend has "volunteered" me to fix her moms 92' V6 Taurus. They are pretty sure that the fuel pump went out. If anyone can tell me how big of a job this is gonna be or give me some helpful advice I would appreciate it.

I am assuming I am gonna have to drop the tank....Oh what fun......What did I do to deserve this.

Thanks later,

For starters make sure you back your car right up to it to where your fuel door and her's are close and siphon out as much gas as you can out of her tank and into yours.
This way when you drop the tank it is light.

If you have replaced your fuel pump on your mustang you should have no problems. The only thing different is the tank sits closer to the center of the car and the tank is wider and longer but it is about half as thick as a mustang gas tank.

Lightbulb Taurus fuel pump replacement

Two ladies are 'pretty sure' the FP 'went out'?

I would need more assurance than that before I did the work of changing out an in-tank fuel pump on any car - for free.

I would check it out throughly first to be sure it isn't the relay or some other electronic part causing the problem.

If the fuel pressure falls off at WOT, then you probably need a new pump. Regulators fail, too.
