Lightbulb 5.0 Question

I have an 86 GT.

1. The timing pointer is huge. Does everyone have this? Or is it a small pointer? Mine is about 2 inches in width, not counting what looks like an O-ring towards the passenger side. I hope this makes sense.
2. Above 4500rpm, it feels like I hit a wall. I know that 86 has rather restrictive heads, but could my valve springs be collapsing at this speed?

By the way, my engine is completely stock. I believe I set my timing to 12-14degrees, assuming I pointed to the correct timing mark. And it has 104k on it.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
