Default EEC-IV replacement

Where can I buy a replacement computer for my 91 mustang GT besides the ford dealer?

If you are looking used, you can go to ebay which always has a lot, www.stangparts.com, or any other place that parts out cars. If you want a new/refurbished one, Autzone and Pep Boys normally carry replacements but you have to give yours back as a core. I think the core charge is around $90 if you don't.

If you are looking for a stock computer replacement, I would look at Stangparts also. If you are looking for a performance replacement computer, I have heard nothing but good things about diablo chips. (This is kind of off subject, but my friend has one in his lightning and has no complaints). Diablo Performance Modules

Where can I have my computer checked? Can I bring it to a dealership and have them run some tests on it to determine if it is good or not? I really don't want to spent another $150+ on my car that doesn't fix the problem. I'd rather make sure the computer is toast before I buy another one.

The only real way to determine if the ECM is bad is to replace it with a known good one, and see if things improve. You must know someone with a similar stang.

Take care,

My friend has one, but it is modified. He says it has marks on it like it was opened with a crowbar. I will have to convince him to let me try it out. What is involved in a EEC transplant? Do I need any special tools to remove it? its in the pass kickpanel right?
The local ford dealership gave me a price of $150 for a brand new one ($249 - $100 core charge). That seems like a good price.

I have two of them. One in my car and an extra that I bought with a maf conversion kit. I would let you try one out and see if it helps, but your too far away.

Have you done any troubleshooting yet? what are the symptoms?

Default used=$$ savings!

You can also check your local salvage yards. I found an A9L for a '91 5.0 here for $75 out the door. Just another option & about half the cost of a new one!
Later!
