If your new exhaust has cats in it, leave the pump in.

Take care,

if you leave it hooked up - ie. belt on the pulley - do not plug it. the pump will still be pushing air thru the hose and into the block. not good.
either leave the hose attached to the off road if you can or bypass the pump or use the smog eliminator kit. if you do the kit, plug the vacuum lines with screws/zip ties.

Just a Quick Question-

I have a 95 gt with an off road x-pipe and it doesn't have a place to plug the smog pump hose into. So, I ran a copper tube down towards where it used to go just to get the sound of blowing air away from the firewall. Is this a bad thing, or is this ok. All it does is blow oxygen into the exhaust for emission purposes right?

Thanks,

Stuart

I welded the smog injection tube on the h-pipe and replaced the pump with a Ford Racing idler pulley. A pulley is not necessary though, because you can take the pump off and just run a shorter belt. I had the pulley left over from the '84 5.0 i had so i threw it on since the belt was fairly new.
Anyways, if you get rid of it what you'll need to do is:
1. Plug the H-pipe tube from the air pump
2. Plug the air supply tubes to the back of the cylinder heads. (I pulled them off -one bolt per side, cut the tubes off 1" from the block part, crimped it together, cut it, welded it)
3. Pull off the smog pump
4. get a shorter belt, i believe corral.com has an article on running a shorter belt to bypass where the smog pump was.
hope this was of help
