Default Neighbors have done it this time

I'm about fed up to here with my neighbors. I'm thinking about moving back up in a mountain by myself. I backed the car out of the garage today..not started but PUSHED it outside to wash it before the race tomorrow. Well after it was all bling blingin, I started it up to put it in the trailer so i wouldn't have to get up early in the morning and have to rush. Well, I started it up and it's really cold natured so i had to let it run for a couple minutes so it wouldn't stall on me. Got it loaded up, and right before i cut it off i always rev it a couple times to keep the carbs cleaned out. Well after i shut it off and got out of the car and started walking out of the trailer my neighbor and the one across the street from him walk over and said their tired of listening to the awful racket my car makes They said that if i don't quiten it down or keep it quiet in the nieghborhood that their gonna ask me to leave?? WTF?? I'm tired of their crap all the time. I can't do but so much. It's not exactly easy to quieten a 16:1 compression car down. I'm all out of ideas here.

Wow dude!! Do you rent or own? I can see that being a problem late at night or early in the morning but during the day.... I'd been back up in the trailor making sure the carbs were good and clean but... thats just me. Wow!! I can't imagine someone confronting you like that. It wouldn't fly around here but as PKRWUD once told me, "It must be the neighborhood".(I think he's right)

You should tell them if they don't quiet down you're going to ask them to kiss your @ss.

How can they make you leave the neighborhood? Is it some sort of exclusive neighborhood or something.
You only had the car on for a few minutes, and unless it's night time i can't see why they'd complain. Not only that but since it's on your property (i'm assuming it's your property and you're not renting and there's no landlord hassling you) how can they tell you to do ANYTHING!?!?!

ROFLMAO!! I gotta remember that one!! Man, around here I usually let off some huge fireworks in my front yard for the 4th and new years and no one complains, some just come out and watch. All the years I've been here and no one complains about my loud car when I get on it either. I did a HUGE burn out in my driveway that had car lights coming on during the daylight and a neighbor was filming it(thought he was filming anyhow). I'm in awe on this one. Do you live in a duplex or something??

Man, here's what you do. Bolt on some old racing slicks and put the car in front of their house, pump up the line lock, and givem' a smoke show they'll never forget.

Screw your neighbors. If it's your property and if you aren't going off it, or you aren't causing any problems, then I don't see what there deal is. They probably just want to start some sh** with you, man. They probably have nothing else better to do anyways.

**** them as far as I'm concerned, and good luck at the race.

Check with your local police department, but I doubt there's anything your neighbors could possibly do during daylight hours, as long as the car stays more than 8' from the street. If the local PD confirms this, tell your neighbor that if he (they) threaten (after all, that's what they did) you again, you're going to file a police report. That should shut them up. Use the law to YOUR advantage (sounds impossible, I know, but it's not!)!!

Take care,
~Chris

what's with all they're whinin'? they're lucky they don't live in my place then. directly across the street from me the dad and his adult son have been buying old pieces of crap cars since they moved in a number of years ago, completely redoing them inside and out, including building the engines in all of them then selling them. and no little 6 cylinders either, big block chevy's and engines that go very nicely into hot rods. and for anyone that's ever built an engine from nearly the bottom up knows that you've got to start it up numerous times to check how everything is running. i've been hearing big, loud revs and road checks since i was nearly a teenager, i've gotten used to it, and have long-since grown to respect the work they put in because they love building engines and fixing cars. and as far as i know, there have been 0 complaints.

so these guys just need something to do, so they're picking on you. tell them to put up or shut up, legally speaking, they can't do squat to you or your car.

I once had a neighbor come ask me to not warm up my motorcycle on the street. He thought it would be better for me to do it in the garage. Hmm, concrete megaphone, or on the street?

Screw the neighbors. PKRWUD is right, call the cops and find out what you can do about them. I've found that if they are trespassing on your land, let them know you will press charges for that.

Default Explosion?

Some years ago when I was first building my car, I had just installed my new engine and tranny. I had the Tri-Y headers on but had not yet had the exhaust done. Well, I just couldn't wait to fire it up. When I did, my elderly lady next door neighbor called to ask if there had been an "explosion"? My wife said no, that it was just me starting my new engine. The neighbor asked if it was always going to be that loud? The wife said no, that it was only temporary. But it's still kinda loud (3 chambers).

On a side note, my wife did call one of my friends and told him my car was shooting blue flames 2-3 ft. out of the headers. She asked if that was safe? My friend assured her that it was OK. Hey, what are friends for anyway?

When i first movedinto my house 10 years ago, the first weekend we was there i heard the most beutifull sound, it was my neighbor running his raceboat engine. i walked over to check it out and they nodded and shut it down and said sorry about the noise and i told them i loved it and didn't mind at all!!

Eric: check with the police as to any laws about running your car like you do.

Sorry to hear that ****, I know EXACTLY what its like.

My neighbors complain CONSTANTLY and I have a lowly 9:1 compression mustang!

Last time I was working on it I was confronted by this old ***** next to who tried to cuss me out. I dont even want to get into all the details. She told me she was gonna call the cops cuz my car hadn't moved in a couple weeks. We'll it has blown head gaskets moron!

I told her polietly, I sure hope your car doesnt have something go wrong with it real soon.

She took it as a threat ... Later she came back and appologized as I am sure she was afriad of damage to her car.

My other neighbors have complained about me driving home late MULTIPLE TIMES.

The neighbor across the street panic's if he sees me changing my oil, as I may damage the environment.

I'm nice to em but firm. Who cares, what can they do, I have no reason to care if I like them or not... All a bunch of bitchy old people.

I've decided to become the crazy eyed spooky next door neighbor. I'm really nice to everybody, but maybe once a week I carry a box out to my garage, or back to my house. Nobody knows what's in it, ususally nothing all they know is I'm "up to something."

Between that and working out in (or just in) my garage at night, they let me do pretty much whatever I want during daylight hours. A little fear goes a long way these days.
