Default huh???

WTF????
wow. not good.

had new motor mounts put in my car today. the guy selling them talked me into the solid motor mounts, rather than going with the stock ones, even thou the stock ones from Ford were more expensive. i was concerned with vibration. he said, the only time he had felt vibration with the solid motor mounts was at about 125 mph. well i don't often go that speed, thank you very much, so i said okay, put them in.

i come back to pick up my car. cranck it, and as soon as i turn the key and the starter hits, the car starts vibrating. from idle (running the ac is unbearable it makes it vibrate so bad) to about 3K RPM, its like the car is sitting on a giant vibrating bed or something. i feel it in the steering wheel, the pedals, the seat, the shifter, the floorpan, every single piece of plastic sounds like a swarm of bees. if i spent more than an hour driving i think my hands would go numb.

i immediately took it back, thinking something was wrong. he drove it, and he couldnt tell (huh?) anything was wrong as he had no experience with my car. i don't even want to drive the car it is so bad. anyways, he said he would change them out with the stock ones for only the difference in cost between the solids and stocks. sounds fair the me, for now anyway.

but a little later after picking it up, i checked my gauges out of habit. my temp gauge, which normally stays right a the "N" was just past the "O". okay, i am thinking "what in the hell could new engine mounts do with my car running warmer???" i get to were i am going turn off the engine, and the temp gauge doesnt move. it stays there. it always falls back to the left when i turn off the ignition. i look at the rest of the gauges. the volt gauge is still standing tall, as is the oil pressure gauge. HUH??? these have always fallen back to the left when i turn the ignition off. i get back in the car, crank it up, and none of my gauges move (with the exception of the tach and speedo). i drive on, make my next stop, and the volt meter returns to its off (left hand) position. i get home, my oil pressure gauge does the same. everything normal but my temp gauge. it is still in the "O" position, two and half hours later.

HOW IN THE HADES COULD SWAPPING ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE THESE KINDS OF SIDE EFFECTS??? they disconnected my battery, and removed the starter when they put the mounts in. WTF IS GOING ON???

as a side note, i should have bolted when he said new motor mounts were good for about 8 hp. WHAT?? HUH?? better throttle response yes, more hp? i dont think so

No I knew you didn't believe him, but he was still ricing you. I don't understand how that guy can have a speed shop or whatever it was you were and think like that.

If it vibrated so bad it could have damaged something in the car. Solid motor mounts can provide more power to the ground but will not actually create 8HP just free up what was being lost with your stock rubber motor mounts. Not worth it without it being a drag only car.
