![]() Hey everyone, The past week or two, I've been getting white smoke from the under the hood and rear. I pulled the plugs yesterday to find that the 4th and 8th (closest to driver, and passenger) are black instead of white. I'm hearing that it's a head gasket, and maybe intake gasket. Just trying to get some more input, so I know every possible problem I could be looking at, thanx...
p.s....I recieved my emmissions notice today!!! , NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ![]() ![]() thanx, Suave

![]() hey man I have basically the same problem. when I get on it hard at about 4000-5000 rpm white smoke comes out my tail pipes. I posted a thread about it like a week ago and someone replyed and told me that they have the same problem and it was a head gasket. there was coolant in the pistons and rocker tray. I am getting ready to replace my head gaskets and intake gaskets.

![]() Carefully check your intake gaskets first, then if they look good check the intake runners for signs of oil or coolant. No need to bust the head seal if your intake gaskets are to blame. If you decide to change these first, do not fret if you see some white smoke on start up. Run the engine at 2,500 RPM at least 4-5 minutes to burn off the coolant trapped in your ring lands. When it all burns off. You might find your head gaskets are ok.
By the way, buy a compression testor first and let me know what you get cylinder to cylinder. You should have at least 140 lbs everywhere. If one cylinder is low, like a 100 to 115 lb reading, then at least you know which head to pull. If you change head gaskets. There are some ultra cool graphite head gaskets available. I bought mine from Aldridge motorsports 503-284-8484. Even with detonation bad enough to break 4 of my 8 chrome moly rings, they kept their seal!!!!
