Exclamation ATTN: Engine Builders; Need some help

Hi guys. unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. I have been going through the 302 (308) I just picked up, and while reassembling it, I noticed something that doesn't look right. The oil gallery that feeds the lifters for cylinders 5-8 ends just below where the distributor is mounted. In this engine, it's open at this end, and that doesn't look right to me. Thing is, the machine shop usually takes care of the oil galleries and their plugs for me, so I am not completely sure. I know that small block Chevy's use the distributor body, rather than a plug, to seal it, thereby also providing oil to the distributor. That is why you have to have a distributor body when you prime the oil pump in a small block Chevy. But that isn't the case with Fords.

Anyway, look at the picture attached, and tell me if there needs to be a plug inserted in the hole where the red arrow points.

Thank you!

Take care,
~Chris
