![]() Just when I thought I had my whole engine rebuild figured, a (friend) asks, why are you not considering a 10:1+ compression?? the fuel is only $.20 a gallon more!!....
why all the choices, leave me alone, my world was perfect.. Is there something wrong with 9:1?? higher compression restricts the use of Nitro's, correct???? Why do people do this???? where were these (friends)when the initial choices were made???? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...... sorry gang.... I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!! ------------------ Black, 84 GT, T5, ground effects, shorty headers, dual exh., rear spoiler from a 87.. |

![]() Jerry,
Don't let it get to you. One of our so called "pals" criticized the crap out of everything we did. We chose the wrong heads.....wrong cam, etc. He also swore that the car would NEVER make it out of the 14s with the combo. THe car has turned a best of 13.4 @ 102 with the parts in question, and the dude won't even talk to us now! ------------------ 1995 GT 1991 LX AOD www.wingard.stangnet.com |

![]() Ah, another Minnesotan.
Yes, increasing your compression ratio limits the maximum amount of power adder you can put onto the car. Superchargers, turbochargers, nitrous. Whichever. In the case of nitrous, it has more to do with octane, and timing. There isn't anything wrong with 9:1 CR for a 5.0. If you are N/A 10.0:1 will give you a few extra ponies under the hood, but it's a bit much for serious forced induction, and it requires more timing retard and better gas when using a good healthy shot of N20. |

![]() Once my neighbor told me that FRAM oil filters suck and to never use them. But I put on one anyways. A couple weeks later his son told me that he blew a seal out of his Quaker State filter!! It was funny. I laughed.
