![]() Hey ever-body, I'm at the point where I'll soon have enough $$$ to pick up some of the goodies I've wanted for a VERY long time. The thing I can't decide is where to start. My 'Stang is both a project and a daily driver: a 1987 LX Notchback 5.0L, whose only modifications so far are 3.73 gears, a B&M TorqueMaster 2000 converter, a B&M shift improver kit, and a conversion to Mass Air from a 1989 Mustang. If you want to count the FlowMaster H-pipe and mufflers as mods, so be it. Okay here's the n/a parts list:
- AFR 165cc heads, 58cc - FRPP 65mm TB - FRPP Cobra intake - FRPP E303 cam - Harland Sharp roller rockers - Pro-Flo 75mm MAF sensor calibrated to 24 lb/hr - FRPP 24 lb/hr injectors - BBK adjustable fuel pressure regulator & gauge - and all the typical total rebuild items Here's the kicker to this setup. I'll also be getting a Paxton blower, most likely the SN-2000 because I don't need the boost or price of a NOVI-2000 for the street. The other attractive thing is that it doesn't use engine oil for lube. Even though this car has 113,000 on it, it still runs very strong, still uses 10W-30 oil, and only burns MAYBE 1qt between changes. The transmission is newly rebuilt and has been strong so far. Now for my question: Would you go with the blower first just to get some experience with it (I don't mind blowing gaskets & parts on a motor that's getting rebuilt anyway), or wait and save for the complete rebuild? I'm leaning towards just bolting on the blower so I can learn to tinker without too much worry of blowing stuff up. I'd be pretty ticked if something went with all those new parts! Did I just answer my own question? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! ![]() ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch |
