Which Gear Ratio?
I'm getting ready to swap my 8 inch rear with 2.80 gears in my 65 coupe for a 9 inch. I have two sets of 9 inch gears to choose from, 3.25 and 3.50. I know the 3.50's will give me the best low end but I'm afraid 3000 rpm's @ 60 mph will get old after a while. Which would you recommend? The car has a 351w and toploader and it will smoke one tire easily even with 2.80 gears. So even if I only go down to 3.25 instead of 3.50 it should still be pretty quick.

I'm running 3.89's so I know what you mean about the high rev's on the highway./ I'm looking to either get a tranny with overdrive. Probably a beefed up AOD. Or bump the gears down. I'm looking at the 3.50' myself you should be fine on the highway and still be quick out of the hole.
