Question Dyno Numbers

I finally took my car to the dyno to get the real picture. I wasn't too disappointed. They tuned the carb with the following results:

o 277.8 rwhp @ 5467 RPM
o 296.7 ft/lbs @ 4534 RPM

The motor runs great, but I'm not thrilled with the manifold vacuum. My old 289 had 22" of vacuum at idle. The 5.0 has 17" of vacuum. This is not great for my power assist brakes and C-4 trans. Any way I can increase the vacuum without switching cams? Retarding the timing seems to help vacuum, but impacts performance. I have an MSD distributor without the box. Would ignition be something that can help me?
