![]() I just recently installed the following:
TW heads Track heat intake TFS Stg. 1 cam (.499/.510) 1.6 roller rockers 76mm C&L 70mm TB ASP race crank pulley FRPP timing chain set stewart water pump TCI 2600 stall converter For my exhaust I've got 1 5/8" Flowtech shorties, a Bassani offroad X pipe, and a 2 1/4" dynomax catback with Turbo Tube (?) mufflers that I had installed a while back when I did the 4 cyl to V8 conversion. Also, I've still got the 7.5" rear end with the 3.45's. Friday night was the first time I've took it to the track, and the best I could manage was a 14.19 @ 99.78mph. The 60's were all in the 2.20's on Futura's. I was launching right where the tires felt like they were about to break loose at the line and traction wasn't a problem at all. The car felt like it didn't have anything until it hit the 330' mark and all of a sudden it would pull on mid 13 second cars after that except by then they'd be so far ahead of me I couldn't catch them. What I was wondering is, do you all think I need more converter? I was thinking that the 2600 stall is a little too low for the new combination, but I had it laying around from when I pulled it off my other car so I figured it would be better than the stock converter. I think something up around a 3500 stall would be more suitable to what I've got now. What do you think? Also, I know the 3.45's are too high for this setup too. I've been wanting to swap the 8.8 out of my convertible since it's got 3.73's in it as well, but would they still be too high? Would I need something lower, say like a 4.10? Last thing...I know the 2 1/4" catback is really holding me back, but is it holding me back THAT much? I was expecting something around 103 mph with the 2 1/4" and around 105-107 after I installed a 2 1/2" catback. I was going to get a buddy of mine that owns a muffler shop to make me up some 2 1/2" flowtubes that expand out to 3" and have him weld on some 3" magnaflows with dumps. Does this sound like a good plan or is it overkill? I appreciate any input anyone has to offer here. Afterall...I just spent a couple grand to run 14.20's ![]() ------------------ 1989 LX 5.0 Coupe 1992 LX 5.0 Convertible Moderator SN95.com, Stangtec.com |
