I have this mental block when it comes to understanding what axels can be used with a 8.8 rearend. Here it goes..... If I have a new 8.8 rearend that uses 28 spline 4-lug axels and want to upgrade to 5-lug axels is all that I have to do is buy 28 spline 5-lug axels? ( Do they even make them?) or do I have to change the differential to accept these 5_ lug axels. Confused as all hell. I'm sure it's not that difficult.

I beleive that its the driver side axles on mid eighties rangers that fit. The dif is only 7.5 but the axles are the same spline and length, and 5 bolt, dont forget ranger 9 inch drums to go with them. Front discs off a 86 lincoln will convert the front to 5 lug as well.

Thanks Fly, It's just that I have never seen 28 spline 5-lug axels listed in any of the parts catalog for a 8.8 rear?

Axle companies will make axles any way you want. Costs about $350 for Strange or Mark Williams.
