stock intake and heads w/ machine work = ??
Here's one for the intake+head masters!
Take: Ported heads (stock HO) with ported/polished intake (stock HO) versus the best head/intake combo.. (ie: Trick Flow TW heads and Street Heat intake) What is the difference between the two for a setup that will include: 65mm T-body, 76mm MAF, full MAC exhaust, etc, etc... The reason I ask is that I can get the ported setup real cheap all of a sudden ! Thanks a lot for your help !! ------------------ 94 Mustang GT (black on black) K&N, MAC Shifter, FMS 9mm, 0017" rims, 3.27, 11*, MSD Coil, 180* thermostat, Clear Projectors, Euro Corners My CAR! The intake side isn't polished is it? If so you may have problems. Exhast side should be though.
I'm running ported stock heads and I'd have to guess my car will run a fairly low 13 sec time on street tires. ------------------ Gunning for 12's! My Stang Page Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |

hey, i just put a new engine in my car (92 stang ) and the stock intake was cut in half fully ported and polished the heads were also ported fairly big it has 10:1 compression 540./.540lift cam forged pistons rods were shotpeened and lightened and the crank was turned but as for the heads and intake i was surprised at how much power they made especially with stock injectors fuel pump and maf, so i say if its cheaper ,go head and do it.

The ported pieces will be much better then stock...but will never flow the out of box numbers that the Holley, TFS or E-brock will.
It really all depends on what you want to do with the car, and how cheap is cheap, who did the machine work and the flow numbers. There are guys who can manipulate the E7's and gain a lot and there are guys who hog them out and think they are great, when they actually hurt the performance. What 2FastLX was saying is correct, if the intake side of the heads are polished it will not allow the air/fuel to atomize and it will cause a lot of problems, the fuel will wash out on the walls. Bu the chambers and exhaust ports can be to a mirror finish ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! Guys, thanks a lot !
My plans for the car, is just to get into the 13's... (ie, a decently fast car around town) So, I'm guessing that needs about 300 HP and a bit more torque than stock?? Thanks again ! |

You can get into the 13's with less that 300hp fairly easily.

Rick, what would you recommend to "complete" my suspension? (I'm curious how much suspension you did!)
thanks! |
