![]() I bought my 69 coupe a few years ago and Ive kept her pretty much the same since, except for a new speed demon. Right now the only performance parts she has are a dual exhaust (but stock exhaust manifolds), edelbrock intake manifold, electric fuel pump, and the new carburator. Shes basically a base-line coupe without the original engine or tranny, so no sense in keeping her stock.
I want to turn her into a street-monster but i only have a budget of about 3k (maybe more) and I hate nitrous. Any suggestions on how I could do this? |

![]() Well, some general ideas,
Smaller things: Headers GEARS Petronix ignition to eliminate the points TUNING (Hey, make the most out of what you've got) ![]() Bigger stuff: heads/cam/intake (lots of choices, lots of folks like ARF's, but I dont know enough about heads to recommend a particular brand. Make sure the pieces work together though. Someone like Edlebrock who sells matched systems is never a bad thing) Quality rebuild, maybe bump the compression up. (or keep the comp lower if you eventually want to boost it) Blower ![]() ![]() Hope it helps. J BTW, what part of Tampa? We just moved up here from T&C about 9 mos ago.

![]() I am going to assume the engine is in good operating condition.
If it were my car and I had 3,000...after making many mistakes before realizing where the money should have been spent on my own car.... Aluminum heads and a cam Gears Shift Kit If money permits, a stall T.C. and maybe ignition upgrades Ryan

![]() I would say a good set of aluminum heads would be the first thing I'd do...but also, I just built a 351W stroked to a 396 with about $3500. I found the stroker kit in Speedway magazine for $800. it was a really awsome project and the car runs really good now...
