Post clutch install problems.

hey guys, i've asked this on other boards and didn't get a reasonable response. i just installed a new clutch, (ram HD) and when i take off, it shakes. the slower i take off, the harder it shakes. what causes that????

also, when the clutch was first installed (like that night), the clutch engaged at the very top of the pedal, now it engages at the very bottom.. what can i do to fix that?? did the cable slip from the top of the pedal?, did it maybe stretch??

Thanks in advance.

btw, i have a 95GT.

I'm not sure how different the 95 is from the earlier models. Did you resurface the flywheel? You're getting clutch chatter. Basically your clutch is slipping and gripping over and over again. How clean was it when you reassembled it? Did you put the clutch in the right way? There is a specific side that mates to the flywheel. As for the pedal, try lifting up on the clutch pedal. Some stangs have a ratcheting adjuster there. If not, the only way to adjust where your clutch engages is with an adjustable clutch quadrant. They're around $100. Sorry about the stupid questions.

I have an '89 (w/ a T-5) that does the-same-damn-thing! It's been doing it since I bought the car (about a year ago). I do have a rear main seal leak that could be contributing to it also. From talking to tech's and other 5 liter guys, they seem to think its the trans going bad. All I hear about is how soft the T-5's are. I hope you find the problem, I know how aggravating it is.

Try giving it a few hundred miles. It might need to break in. If it doesn't go away, something is wrong. I just installed a centerforce dual friction clutch on my car and it never chattered. It chattered when the old clutch was wore out, but after changing it, it went away. Is your rear main seal dry?

Question

My 89 does the same thing. Up to 2000rpms is runs smooth. Anything over 2000 it starts shaking. I figured it was a driveshaft problem.

I've only had the car 2 days now so I have to play around with it and figure out what's up.
