![]() Now as far as everything goes, all I have is a stock 5.0/1990. Now yesterday I switched out a Little Kenwood tape deck for a Pioneer CD deck. I didn't look at the wiring diagrams for this little job. (it looked simple enough) Anyway we drove it around yesterday and last night with no problems. But this morning on my way to work the car shut down completly. I could smell that electical burn smell and figured it was the alternator. Popped the hood and there was the flame. the little fire looked like it started at that 3 wire connector on the back of the alternator. I just don't know what it was that I did to cause this. The guy at NAPA said that there has been a problem with this connector and thats why my new alternator came with one. Has anyone heard of this?
