![]() The reason I ask is that I have heard a few different things like: 1) at LEAST 2000-3000 miles before any hard driving or drag racing; 2) while I have also heard that by 500 miles it should be ready to take a beating; and 3) another yahoo said it should be ready to go when I buy it! (I seem to be in between 1 & 2.)
So what do you guys think? I haven't purchased it yet, and am hoping that the 3550 comes with literature that provides some sort of guidance for a suggested break-in period. Anyone know? Of course, for as little as I drive my Mustang, it could take me 2 years to get it broke-in! ![]() Thanks in advance for the replies. ![]() Could you elaborate for me? What do you mean by "rebuilt it to the real specs?" I am getting worried now! I don't want to drop $1,200 on a tranny that isn't built to specifications....agghh!

![]() The conversion price for the Tremec and accessories is around $2000. If you do get it, I would recommend 1,000 break in miles before you drive it hard.

![]() Get an aftermarket shifter if you like to shift with one arm. Otherwise get used to right arm workout.

![]() Well, this is the break-down on cost from D&D:
Tremec 3550 - $1,199 Lakewood Blowproof Bellhousing - $269 New speedo cable (I broke mine) - $45 3 qts. of GM syncomesh fluid - $30 Plus shipping and getting the crossmember re-welded into position for the Tremec. Not too bad of a price, I am just worried about the quality of the tranny now. |

![]() If it is like mine, it will not have any break in literature. I have read and heard that you should not downshift it during the 500 mile break in period.

![]() USMC302 - I had heard that the auto crossmember might work - thanks for clearing it for me! I guess I will just get an auto crossmember and be done with it.
