![]() I started to notice a squeek coming from my rear disk, (thought it might be a rock caught in the caliper)so I pulled the wheel off inspectect the caliper, working, the disk, no scorring marks, I put the wheel back on, does any one have any suggestions?
could the caliper be failing or could the disk be warped or could it be that the wheel is not tourqued down properly, any help or suggestions are appreciated, thanks ------------------ 88 Stang GT Cobra Every option but leather 10 speaker 440 watt system Blue/Grey with grey interior K&N air filter, black outs, & no air |

![]() When does the noise occur? Is it constant or only when the brakes are applied? Does it make a chirping sound that increases with vehicle speed, or is it a steady noise? How many miles are on the brakes? How much lining was left on the pads?

![]() I think I have found the problem:
I recently had a rock caught in the caliper so I had to pull the caliper of to get the rock out, but when I put the caliper back on I must have dislocated my anti-rattle clip because when I checked it this morning the clip was about 3/8" towards the outside of the caliper. I haven't driven the car very far since but the noise has not seemed to have come back on my test run the pads are new, calipers are rebuilt, the noise sounded like a rock caught but would only show up periodicaly and stopped when the brakes were applied the noise would get more constant when I accelerated. if the noise dose come back any suggestions? thanks |

![]() Go to your local auto parts store and tell them you need a pack of Disc Brake Pad Silencing Shims. Work great.

![]() No offense to any of the women members but, everytime i do brake service to my girflriends car her brakes squeel within 5k miles. can you say GLAZED? Her rotors look like mirrors all the time! If your rotor look overly chrome like, use some sandpaper and "ruff" the surfaces. Works everytime, and yes you need those shims.. ;]
