I am in the same boat right now 4 years ago I bought the rebuild kit from D&D ($150), it was real nice and complete and yes it did come with upgraded syncros, dont forget about a steel bearing retainer if you don't have one. I am also checking into the Hanlon kits to see what they offer tey are slightly more expensive though ($170)

The steel bearing retainer is the shaft the throwout bearing rides on, and it retains the front input shaft bearing into it's housing. The stock one is made of aluminum and it's prone to scoring and poor clutch feel.

Question

I too have a T5 that needs to be replaced, but was told a lot of the T5 cases, because they are aluminum, may have too much wear to be usable again. Is this a big problem with these?

Your case should be fine, I would just rebuild it. Like I said mine has taken a lot of hard launches(4000RPM+) at the track these last 4 years and plenty of gear banging on the street, these things will take more of a beating then some give it credit for. If I could afford it I would love to upgrade to a Street Jerico 4 sp, but the $2600.00 is a little out of my budget right now

Could the steel reatainer upgrade possibly make my car t-5 stop (whining), along with maybe a throwout bearing repacement?
