What Size For Custom Wheels
Hi guys.
I hope someone can help me. I want to buy a set of custom rims for my 65, but I am not sure what size would fit with out rubbing to the sides. My Mustand has the 620 1inch lowered spring coils in the front. And in the rear it has new leaf springs with polyuretheane sring shackles;I set them at 3/4 of an inch raised from the rear. I also have airshocked in the rear. I do not have a rear swaybar at this moment. I was curious what size wheel will fit with out rubing to the sides. Do I need custom offsets? I am planning to buy the American Racing Torque thrust II. I think those custom wheels are the best looking rims for a classic Mustang. Will 15x8 fit in the back or 15x7? What size tires will fit the front and rear with out any further modifications? Thanks I appreciate any responses. I hope someone can help me ------------------ Moises Plasencia |

Ive just installed new 15x7 & P215-65-R15/ on my 65 coupe! The rear axle is an inch longer on each end & my tire stuck out on rear about 1/2 in , if that much. I also
have air shocks 50 lbs in shocks too care of that. fronts ok.I really needed 4.5 backspacing. check your backspacing. I dont think 1,.in lowering in front will mater. the rub point in front would be the lower front of fender & can be rolled back a little.18s will work fine depending on backspacing-Torque Thruch offers backspacing. try this link for back spacing. http://web.wt.net/~gilbert/backspacing.html ------------------ |

I too have a 65 with Torque Thrust II rims. This is going to sound crazy but I have 275/60 on the back and 235/60 on the front. Yes, the front rubs like crazy and I'm running about 80lbs. through my Monroe air shocks. I plan on putting 215/60 on the front and 245/60 on the back. Hopefully, rubbing problem will be fixed.

Maybe this sounds weird but, I have a 235-60-15's on my 67 coupe mounted on 15x7 prime wheels(They look like weld draglites). My tires NEVER rub. I have air shocks on the back that where on the car when I bought it. The hoses for them leak so there is no air in them at all rear tires don't rub. To make the fronts even come close to rubbing I have to haul a$$ over speed bumps. Maybe the guys at the tire shop just set me up with the perfect backspacing or something!

Hey Quick 64 1/2 let me know if the
245x60X15 rub on the back. I am thinking of intalling those to my 65. Those 275x60x15 I am sure look bitchen, too bad they don't fit proprerly. I appreciate more input from others. thanks |

well, the 245/60's are on and they look sweet. They don't grab as well as the 275's but I haven't had any rubbing problems. Good luck with your tires
