Question Throttle Cable hook up

I am having a bit of a hard time mounting my throttle cable on a 600 Edelbrock Carburetor. (The throttle cable is from a '69 and my pony is a '65). The problem is where would you connect the throttle cable to the throttle lever? There are a couple of holes on the throttle lever in which one of them the lockwasher and nut go. Note that this nut and lockwasher attatches the throttle lever adapter. It does not leave room for the throttle cable anywhere on the throttle lever. How can you hook it up.

I'd appreciate any feedback, I am relatively new at this.
