![]() yep, going down I-35 at 70+ mph. I'm not sure how far I went before I heard the clattering, maybe several miles. I killed it and pulled off the highway.
Pulling the distributor told me all I needed to know....the top part of the oil pump drive shaft came out with it--my chrome moly HD oil pump drive shaft! The oil pump must have locked up to cause this....or it was a defective shaft. Either way, I probably scored the bearings. I'll tear the pan off in the morning and see what is up. I'm bummed. Maybe there won't be too much metal down there. ------------------ 66 GT Fastback 5.0, 5-speed, cable clutch, JBA's, 3.40 gears, EFI coming soon? |
