Post Saturdays Famoso Results

I've got a lot of BS to ramble on about so I just made my own thread. First I finaly got my cars cpu on a scantool to find out WTF was wrong with it on Friday. I needed a new Coolant Temp Sensor and my pulse width was strange. It was at .4 seconds at idle which is what a stocker would use at WOT. I put my Vortec MAF back in with a new sensor and its working great now. It made my injector pulse width shoot up to .9! Thats almost a full second of fuel. Which tells me that the car is starving for fuel, which is why it was detonating at Carlsbad. Also I set my fuel pressure way up to 58 lbs and it helped the idle and dropped the pulse width a little. But when I snap the throttle the fuel pressure would drop all the way down to 35! Which also tells me that the car is starving for fuel and that my stock pump just wont cut it anymore. Im bought 30lb injectors, and a 190 pump a while back and Im going to put them in and go back to the track with you guys.

Now for the times. I got 8 runs in and I really like this track. Its much much better than Carlsbad. The NHRA corrected altitude which figures in temperature and barometric pressure for Saturday was 3000ft. Thats a good 4 tenths of correction. This would explain why you guys didnt run as well as you thought you would. The barometric pressure is bad so the air isnt very dense and it was easly 100 degrees. The tracks ACTUAL elevation is 600ft which isnt that bad.

My best run was a 14.14 @ 96 mph with a 2.03 60ft. Thats with a 100lb speaker box in my trunk. The guys with the 8 second bikes were next to me in the pit and told me that my car should pull 13.70's. Im happy but my slip still says 14.1 My mph in Carlsbad was 98 but I only ran a 14.4 there because I couldnt get any traction there. So my mph at Carlsbad was 2mph better but my et was 3 tenths quicker at Bakersfield. Maybe the box in my trunk was costing me mph?

Either way Im happy. The car is still starving for fuel but a 14.1 is much better than anything I have ran before. And if the corrected elevation is valid that means I have a 13 second car.

Bakersfields track is much much nicer than carlsbads. They clean the track and it hooks up much better. I could actualy feel the weight transfer, its a great feeling. I was very excited because I have never done that before. I have always bogged or spun. I was fortunate to be second in line after they cleaned the track and that was the only time I hit the 2.0 60ft. Every other attempt that day was a bog or a spin with a 2.2 60ft.
