I know what your problem is. You have an aod. But Im sure that you have heard that plenty of times. I dont know about the pop, but when mine has gone out, it will go for awhile as long as you dont step on it. If you do then it'll act just like its in neutral, like yours.
Im going to seitch to a t-5 soon as I get the car back. Heck Ill have a newly rebuilt aod with shift kit with warranty when they get it done(tomorrow or wed.) and would be glad to sell it to you if you need. And Id damm sure beat the 1200.00 that aamco charges to rebuild them. Haha, but Id recommend Lentech or somewhere if you want to have it rebuilt.
