Default Code 85...see if anyone can interpret

I pulled the codes on the Mustang today.

It gave me a code 85 with the key-on-engine-off test. It was in the first set of codes...so it wasn't a continuous code.

The book lists code 85/non-continuous as a "Canister Purge Solenoid circuit failure." Anyone know what this is?

If it was a continuous code, it would be "Adaptive fuel limit reached - lean" which I know I am running lean.

Anyway, any help is much appreciated.

Default CANNISTER PURGE

CANNISTER PURGE

is the box mounted on the rh lower frame in engine compartment
it is solinoid operated
it also has vacumn line to intake w/ a solinoid valve inline connected to the eec.
you can get cannister purge codes from dropping tank and the vent line becomes disconnected
or a shorted in-line vac solinoid.

from what i know disconnecting this will not cause the check engine lamp, youres to throw a code must be shorted or dissconnected
