I believe you are correct, Chris, when you say that you aren't losing hp with an electric fan. Jeff Chambers( Moderator for Drag Racing Central) told me that you need the car to reach 190 degrees Fahrenheit to get out of the computer's warm-up stage too. I hooked up a black wire from underneath the dash(from the cruise control) to a push-button toggle switch. This works great for me.
