FiveO... your car was my inspiration

As for how I did the hood it is rather easy to do, but hard to explain.

You make a selection on the hood that is the shape of the cowl you want with the Polygonal tool. Basically, a selection of the raised portion on the stock hood will do fine.
Then I copied the selection (CTRL+C) and pasted it into a new layer (CTRL+V) and nudged the layer up a bit . Then I duplicated that layer (right click the layer and select DUPLICATE) and nudged it up a little more on the duplicate layer.
I repeated that process about 3 more times until the cowl was at the desired height.

Then to make the scoop in the cowl i made a selection in the shape of the scoop, and used the Ink Stamp tool to fill it with color from the top of the hood so it all matched. Then I made a selection for the side of the scoop and used the Ink Stamp tool to fill it with color from the side of the body for the shadowing. Then I selected the scoop, then selected the inverse so the scoop was outside my selction and I used the air brush to paint in the shadows.

If you need help with selection tools go into the help section in Photoshop. It's a bit much to explain, but these are tools you will use a lot if you play with Photoshop, so learn them!

Good luck.
