'94 - '95 Borg-Warner T-5 300 ft-lbs
These transmissions have a different (3/4" longer) input shaft. The clutch cable entry point on the bell housing was moved downward approximately 3" and the cable will hit the sump of a "T" oil pan (Avaid, Canton, etc.). Large, long tube headers will also hit the cable cover. Looks like you may not be able to use it. ![]() How much do you have of the 1986 T-5? If you have the bell housing it should match up to the 5.0, you may have problems with the tranny mount though. Incidentally, your T-5 was rated at 300lb/ft, the 1986 unit IS rated at 265lb/ft. It has a 3.35 first gear ratio (not necessarily better with your 4.10's, it'll make your 1st gear shorter), and a needle bearing inputshaft. I had an 86 in my 87 and when it blew I went to the T-5z, when I did I lost out of the hole bad, but then I've got 2.73:1 rear gears. |
