The 86-98s have the exact same "water funneling" problem. I tend to keep a rag around for the purpose of cleaning up my doors when I decide to crack the windows in the rain. As far as the carbon monoxide... ANY amount is bad for you. So I would only crank the window down while standing still when you have to. Funny, but the 98 doesn't really have that particular problem.
