I think you should look at a Toyota Tacoma, I know its not American, but Toyota trucks are built really well. Normally I'd say Chevy, but the IFS on Chevy trucks is really sub-par. Any Chevy Truck 88 or newer will have IFS, and any suv thats 91 or newer will have it. I like the 73-87 style Chevy trucks, but I don't know if you're into that sort of truck.
