I do not think that the difference between a 302 and a 306 is going to make any noticable difference. I definately would not bore out a new block that is in good shape. I don't belive that heavier pistons would affect power much but may put more stress on the rotating assymbly. I think the brand of piston would make a bigger weight difference then the .030" overbore would make. But this is just my opinion of the matter.
