For the first time in my life, I have a newfound, deep respect for Memphis. It appears I was all wrong in my opinion of their town elders!

Until recently, there was a law on the books in the vehicle code out here that said it was illegal to have a radiator cap that extended more than 8 inches above the hood (written back when radiators were mounted outside of the engine compartment).

If you get a chance, check out Div. 12, Article 11, in the Cal. Veh. Code. It has three laws regarding the use of Acetylene Lamps on vehicles.
