Gears are not always the best route especially if you are not gonna be sitting on some slicks.
Back in the day when my car was stock I was running a 15.2 @88mph. I put in some 3.73 gears and all of the sudden was running a 15.35 @88mph. My gears didnt help me at all but when I got my heads and explorer intake I dropped nearly a full second off of my ET. JMO,
