![]() An 01' Cobra and a mach 1 have about a 3-4 tenth gap in stock form.
The mach 1 has a solid axle and 3.55 gears from the factory and makes a few more HP. As long as you have the IRS the mach 1 will have the straight line advantage, I would suggest that you get a solid axle with at least 4.30 gears. 3.73's are not steep enough for the 99+ cobras. I have beat a mach 1 when they first came out since then I lost twice. They dont really have anymore top end but they make really good low end torque and it is hard to hang with them from a stop. I think with just long tube headers and exhaust you could walk away from a mach 1. Throw in some gears and you could spank 03 cobras in a straight line as well. The fastest two DOHC 4.6's where I live are a 99 cobra that runs low 11's on the juice and low 12's on motor. And a Mach 1 that is turbo charged and ran an 11.7 @117mph with a 1.6 60ft. On average the mach 1's are running mid 13's. Go to the track and see how you can do. Some cobras are faster than others mine was 3 tenths faster than any of the other 99-01's that were stock were I race. Fix the wheel hop before you worry about anything else. Trust me.
