I don't know about the 235/55's, they're 27.3'' diameter which will be pretty tall, especially for the front. Even the 235/50's are 26.6''. I had 255/50 16's on my GT for a while which are 26'' dimeter and about 9'' wide tread, they just barely fit and rubbed when I first put them on until I flattened out a part of the inside of the wheelwell (small bump towards the frontside of the rear tires). Go on tirerack.com and look at tire company's specs, they have tread/section width/dimeter/etc. for each size so you can see what'll match up best.
