![]() You don't want to shift anymore so don't put a stick in it. You also want to run it street/strip. The C4 is a great old tranny. Pretty efficient, light, and quick shifting. It's also got 3 gears, and if you want to run hard at the track with an auto, you best be looking into a high stall converter and some gears. Gears with a 3spd auto, a high stall converter, and no overdrive makes for more rpm on the highway than what you might like.
Auto overdrive is simply the way to go. The AOD's get a lot more efficient with a lightweight performance converter, and they can be made to shift hard, take a ton of power, and run reliably. The C6 is a dumb move for almost any small block. It's a pita to install, and it's a heavy power sucking transmission. Though very beefy, it's also overkill for all but a few small blocks. It's going to cost you time at the track, and hit you in the pocketbook when you go to fill up. |
