![]() I have a 68 Hardtop and I just replaced this cable. It is not the true kick-down cable. It is only for full throtle. Have some one open the throtle to full and move the tranny kick-down lever forward and the cable should fit. It only operated when you put the peddle all the way to the floor.

If you have the catalog its on pg 105, thats the automatic transmission section.

![]() The short cable is correct and it is the kick down cable.
It goes from the linkage on the bottom of the pedal linkage that is attached to the firewall. The other end goes to the kick down lever on the transmission. When the pedal is fully depressed the cable gets pulled and pulls the kick down lever that causes the valve body to force downshift the transmission.
