To answer the second part of your question, if the sensor has a barbed fitting that will accept a vacuum hose then it is ineed a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor and should have a vacuum line attached. If the fitting location has a little loose vent cover where you think the vacuum line should be attached, then it is a BAP sensor (barometric absolute pressure) and should not have a vacuum line attached. The majority of mass air cars have a BAP and should not have the vacuum line attached. Check the vacuum routing diagram in the engine bay to determine actual routing.
