FWIW I was running a STOCK dual hump pan on my 347, with zero problems. Cleared the girdle and everything, I was amazed. Ran it with that pan until the car left, and had no intentions of changing it.
Now, I have a Moroso 8 qt, because as mentioned you need the front sump with the rear steer older Fords.
