Maybe this will help.

C-6, is a large aluminum case trans. The bellhousing is integral with the body.
Pan is large square with a smaller bump out at the rear.

C-4, is a small aluminum case trans. The bellhousing is seperate from the trans body. Pan is small rectangle.

FMX, is a cast iron case trans. The bellhousing is usually aluminum and is seperate from the body. The tail housing is also aluminum. Pan is square.
