![]() Whatever you do, DO NOT run slicks on that setup.
The 7.5" would likely not take it, but even more so the stock T-5 in the 1985 GT's was very weak. Rated at only 260lb/ft of torque it featured a needle bearing setup on the input shaft along with the weaker 3.35:1 1st gear ratio. Later models got stronger 2.95:1 ratios for first, and the lastest got tapered roller bearings on the input shaft. Launching on slicks I have no doubt you could run a mid 13, but you'd likely take your rear and/or tranny out very quickly. The drag radials should hook quite nicely and provide you with good launch, without shocking your driveline like slicks would. |
